Welcome to P4J at Cargill Christian Preschool and Daycare! I am getting so excited to meet all of my new friends for the 2012-13 school year. I've been busy getting our room ready and with just a little bit more work, it will be set for Wednesday!
Is your child getting excited to start school? Here are some tips for easing anxiety on the first day:
*Verbally walk your child through his day. If your child knows what to expect, there will be less anxiety.
*Get a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast! A hungry, tired preschooler is a force to be reckoned with :)
*Keep your good-bye short. I know this is hard, but in the end, it is much easier and less traumatic for the child if the parent doesn't show too much emotion at drop-off or linger too long. Parents are always welcome in the classroom, but it makes for a much quicker adjustment period if visits/drop-offs are kept to a minimum during the first few weeks :)
*Encourage independence. Let your child try to take off his or her own jacket, and hang up her own backpack. This builds confidence and self-esteem.
I hope you all have an enjoyable Labor Day weekend, and I will see you bright and early Wednesday morning!
